GHCA unveils 2013 honor parts

    John Bishop, head of school for Greater Houlton Christian Academy, is pleased to announce the honor parts for the graduating class of 2013.

    Allison J. Little, valedictorian, is the daughter of Eugene and Kelly Little of Littleton. Allison has been a student at GHCA since her first day of kindergarten. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She has earned many academic awards including highest honors all four years as well as gold and silver Presidential Education Awards in multiple subjects. She has received recognition by the Houlton Rotary Club and merited ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student in academics for two years. Athletically, Allison has participated in three years of high school basketball and four years of intramural volleyball.

Valedictorian

    Allison is a member of the Military Street Baptist Church. She has volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Drives, MSBC Vacation Bible School and Nursing Home Visitation. She is also a member and volunteer at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum. Allison will be attending Northern Maine Community College where she will pursue an associate’s degree in applied science.
    Sara E. Hemingway, daughter of James and Cathie Hemingway of Hodgdon, has been named salutatorian of the Class of 2013. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has faithfully served as class officer and as a member of the Student Council. Sara has received several academic and character awards including the Christian service award. For her consistent hard work, she has been recognized by the Houlton Rotary Club, received awards in multiple subjects from the President’s Education Program and was chosen for the ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student award for two years. She served as manager for the varsity girls’ basketball team for three years and has excelled academically while competing in varsity cross-country and intramural volleyball.

Salutatorian

    Sara attends the Hodgdon United Baptist Church where she is actively involved in youth activities and enjoys working as a Kid’s Club Leader and assisting with Vacation Bible School. She also enjoys volunteering her time at Living Waters and Wilderness Day Camp. She is an active participant in youth group and always enjoys serving others in various church and school sponsored service projects. With a passion for education, Sara will be majoring in elementary education.
    Ashley M. Grenier is the first honor essayist of Greater Houlton Christian Academy for 2013. She is the daughter of Peter and Heather Grenier of Danforth. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has served her class as vice president for two years. Ashley is the recipient of the Maine Principals Association Principal’s Award for 2013. She has been awarded both gold and silver Presidential Education Awards in multiple subjects all four years, ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student and Houlton Rotary Club Recognition.

Essayist

    Ashley is a member of the Danforth Baptist Church where she is involved in a variety of ministries, including choir, home visitation and as a junior church teacher. She also enjoys participating in the East Grand Adventure Race as a volunteer and participant. She will attend New Brunswick Bible Institute, majoring in theology.
