sp-egstudents-dcx2-pt-21East Grand took part in the Aroostook River Fun Race on May 18. The eight-mile race started in Washburn and ended at the Fish & Game Club

in Presque Isle. Thirteen students and two adults took part.  The race was the last of seven the school took part in this spring. More than 20 East Grand students took part in one or more races where they improved paddling skills, gained confidence on numerous rivers and streams (some having class III whitewater), gained an appreciation for the outdoors, that canoeing is fun, safe, good exercise, can be a lifelong hobby, and readily available right in our back yards! East Grand students and adults participating in the races are, from left, top, Peter Apgar, Philip Farle and Josh Jones; standing, Gage Caissie, Billy Apgar, Austin St. Pierre, Brady McEwen, Dawson Barter, Ashley Grenier, Kianna Caissie, Mitchell Bartlett, Thomas Gilman, Sarah Stoddard, Sam Plummer and Dave Conley.
