Hodgdon High School announces honor parts

    Nick Lunn, son of the Rev. Mark and Debbie Lunn of Hodgdon, has been a versatile member of the class of 2013 and is its valedictorian.

    Nick has received highest honors as well as the Houlton Rotary Achievement Award for all four years, and was treasurer of the National Honor Society, president of his class for one year, and treasurer for two. He is an active student member of the Dollars for Scholars executive board and has acquired 14 college credits during his high school career. Nick is the 2013 National Merit Scholarship winner sponsored by the UPS Foundation.
    Nick also played soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, volleyball and ran cross country. He was a captain for the basketball team for two years, the baseball team three years, and cross country for two years.  He was a member of the senior all-star basketball team. In the fall of 2012 he was nominated as the male Wendy’s Heisman Award winner for the state of Maine. Nick was a four-year member of both the school band and chorus and attended both All-Aroostook Music Festival and All-State several times. Nick remains an active member of his church’s youth ministry.
    Nick has received the Presidential Scholarship from the University of Maine in Orono as well as a college of engineering scholarship. He will major in computer engineering in the fall of 2013.
Devon LogieDevon Logie, Salutatorian
    Devon Logie, son of Melinda King of Littleton and Carl C. Logie of Linneus, is Hodgdon High School’s salutatorian.
    He has received highest honors all four years of his high school career and is currently senior class president and president of the Student Council. He also received the Houlton Rotary Achievement Award for all four years. He received the Xerox Award for Informational Technology from the University of Rochester. He was a participant in the Engineering Camp at UMO during the summer of 2012. He received highest average in physics, senior math and pre-calculus.
    Devon was an active four-year member of Hodgdon High School band and worked for two years at S.W. Collins in Houlton. Devon was a four-year member of the varsity basketball team and a captain four years. He participated in varsity soccer for two years; team captain his junior year. He was a member of the senior all-star basketball team.
    Devon has received the college of engineering scholarship as well as the Presidential Scholarship from the University of Maine at Orono and will attend there in the fall of 2013 majoring in civil engineering.
Mackenzie's YorkMackenzie York, First Honors
    Mackenzie York, daughter of Tonya York of New Limerick and Shawn York of Houlton, as first honor essayist, has worked very hard in her high school career.
    For four consecutive years, she has maintained highest honors, been selected as student of the month by the faculty, and received the Houlton Rotary Achievement Award. In her junior year she was awarded the Bausch and Lomb science award from the University of Rochester.
    Mackenzie is the vice president of the senior class, a member of the National Honor Society, a past member of the student focus group, a member of the Civil Rights team, and has been an active and involved member of the Career Association in the JMG program. She has been a four-year varsity member of the softball team, rising to co-captain her senior year. Additionally, Mackenzie is a regular volunteer at Houlton Region Hospital.
    Mackenzie will attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle in the fall, majoring in secondary education – English, where she already has placed on the roster for the Owl’s softball team.
