Historical Society hosts photo contest

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle Historical Society officials have announced that, as part of the organization’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, it will hold an amateur photo contest open to all individuals. The contest is limited to two entries per person. The themes of the photos are to showcase an historical element or item in and around Presque Isle. The photos should be in an 8- by10-inch format. Framing is optional but preferred. Proof of ownership must be available.

    All entries in the contest will be on display at Wintergreen Arts Center at 149 State St. in Presque Isle during the month of September of this year. Contest entries will be supplemented by photos from the Historical Society’s collections. Prizes will be awarded for first place ($50), second place ($35) and third place ($15).  Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. at Wintergreen during the First Friday Art Walk on Friday, Sept. 6.
The winning photos may be used for the promotion of the Presque Isle Historical Society, may be posted on their website and may be displayed on a rotating basis at locations around the area.
The entry fee is $5 per photo. Interested amateur photographers should submit their entry fees with a completed consent and waiver form and model release/permission to use picture form by the deadline of July 31 (no exceptions) to: Presque Isle Historical Society, PO Box 285, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Presque Isle Historical Society was founded in 1963 to study, promote and preserve the history, heritage, culture and physical artifacts of Presque Isle for present and future generations.
