Limited space in summer registrations
The Houlton Recreation Department is still accepting registrations for their summer youth programs. The following programs have limited registration space, but are still available: youth tennis lessons; youth swim lessons for Houlton residents only; junior girls softball clinic; Dutch Soccer Academy; T-ball for ages 5-6; First Pitch for ages 7-8; fall youth soccer for grades K-1 and boys and girls grades 4-6; basketball camp for grades 4-8 and Career Exploration Camp.
All other programs are filled.

Career Exploration Camp
The Houlton Recreation Department will be sponsoring a Career Exploration Camp for children between the grades of 3-6. The camp will be held at the recreation center on Aug. 12-15 from 1-3 p.m.
Participants will explore the various careers available in today’s world. Children will research careers based on their interests, create art activities about a chosen career and participate in fun exploration of a variety of careers. Children will also be exposed to leadership skills, and critical thinking skills that they will need to be successful.
Erica Tweedie will be the instructor for this camp. Cost is $40 per child with limited space of 15 children. Stop by the rec center to register your child for this new camp.
Discount summer tickets
The Houlton Recreation Department will be selling discounted summer tickets for Funtown/Spashtown and Aquaboggan this summer.
Tickets may be purchased at the rec center office between May 20 and Aug. 29. Customers can save a significant amount of money and time at the gate when you purchase them from the rec. The Funtown/Splashtown Combo Tickets are $27 per person and Aquaboggan Super Pass is $22 per person. For more information on recreation programs and deadlines, call 532-1310.
Northern Maine Soap Box Derby Tech Day
The Northern Maine Soap Box Derby Committee will be sponsoring a tech, tune up and trial run day on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Derby Hill. All registered racers are encouraged to come to this day. All interested youngsters are also invited to this day as well to see what Soap Box Derby is all about. Registrations for this year’s race have been extended to May 15. This will be a great way to see what the “Thrill of Hill” is like.
