A “Junco” which is a slate colored bird with a white underbelly was sited at a bird feeder in Ludlow recently. What was unusual about the little bird is that it had a white head.
The person feeding the bird described the bird as looking like a miniature bald eagle. Upon consulting a biologist in Maine, and subject to further study by the Audubon society members that the biologist knows, it has been determined that this bird is partially albinistic or is leucistic and is a most likely a Junco since it was traveling with Juncos.
