SMYRNA — A single-vehicle crash sent one person to the hospital Wednesday evening. According to Maine State Police, Grady Anderson, 26, of Houlton was operating his 2001 Buick car eastbound on U.S. Route 2 in Smyrna when he lost control of the vehicle.
Grady skidded off the roadway and into a ditch and upon striking the ditch, vaulted in the air and rolled over. Grady was ejected from the vehicle and sustained leg and head injuries.
Anderson was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital via Houlton Ambulance and later transferred to EMMC in Bangor for further treatment. A passenger in Grady’s car, 28-year-old Tyler McCluskey sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital via Houlton Ambulance.
The vehicle was extensively damaged and a total loss, both airbags deployed and Grady was not wearing a seatbelt. The investigation is continuing. Trooper Jill Monahan investigated and was assisted by Oakfield first responders.
