Log rolling and a sawing challenge are on tap for this year’s East Grand Adventure Race set for Saturday in Danforth. Spectators can view the log rolling and two-person crosscut sawing at the boat landing in Danforth on the Baskahegan flowage off of Route 169 this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Other challenges include traversing Baskahegan Stream and a tough mudder-style challenge that involves some mud along the 20-mile race, which also includes a one-mile off-trail compass run, 10 miles of  mountain biking and seven miles of canoeing or kayaking.
Divisions are as follows: Race in pairs in the high school boys, girls, mixed; adult men, women, mix; Junior/Senior; open division, which can be solo, teams of any size, relay, kayak or canoe. In short, anything that doesn’t fit into the other divisions can compete in the open division. Entering a relay team is a great way to participate without having to complete the entire course.
There is still time to register and the entry fee is $20 per person when registering by Friday. Entry fee covers cost of trophies, T-shirts, lunch and $1,050 in prizes for youth divisions. Proceeds benefit the school’s outdoor education program. The race is sponsored in part by FirstWind, Woodie Wheaton Land Trust and Ski Rack Sports.
