The Presque Isle and Caribou baseball teams have an important battle looming this coming Tuesday. Both teams have key games prior, but the Wildcats and Vikings are closely ranked in the latest Eastern Maine Class B standings, with Caribou (3-3) in 13th place in Presque Isle (2-4) in 14th. Only the top 13 teams qualify for the ‘B’ playoffs, making the showdown at Caribou High School a critical one.

The Wildcats hosted Houlton yesterday afternoon and will entertain John Bapst in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. before meeting up with the Vikes.
In softball,  Fort Fairfield is rolling with a 6-1 record. Coach Jamie Selfridge’s team hosts Fort Kent Thursday, Ashland Saturday and Wisdom Monday with hopes on building on their impressive streak, which has them at No. 2 in EM Class D.
The PI and Caribou softball teams also meet up on Tuesday. Caribou won all three games last season, including a prelim, but the Wildcats are ahead of the Vikings in the most recent standings.
