Mars Hill youth, others compete
in Orono triathlon
ORONO — The fourth annual Cub Tracks Youth Triathlon, held at the University of Maine at Orono April 20, featured the participation of several members of the newly-formed Mars Hill Tri Club as well as some other local youngsters.

TRIATHLON FUN — Liberty Fulton, left, and Carly Guerrette, members of the Mars Hill Tri Club, didn’t let a little rain deter the fun they had as they show off the medals earned during a recent triathlon in Orono.
Grace Bemis of Presque Isle was the winner in the 10-13 year-old girls’ division with a time of 26 minutes and 59 seconds in the event that includes biking, swimming and running.
Madison Jandreau of Caribou finished in 33:56, Chloe Eckstein of Mars Hill came in with a time of 34:46, with Sarah Maillet (45:56) and Zaylan Johnson, also of Mars Hill, also competing.
In the age 7-9 category, Annalise Jandreau of Caribou was the fourth-place girl in 25:37, while Emily Bemis of Presque Isle was eighth in 26:23.
Nathan Chandler of Mars Hill was 12th in the 7-9 boys’ division in 27:14.
Other competitors, all from Mars Hill, and their times were as follows: Carson Cushman (28:41), Samantha McCrum (28:50), Chase Boyd (30:19), Liberty Fulton (32:37) and Carly Guerrette (35:42).
The Mars Hill athletes train regularly through the recreation department and are preparing for the next competition, which will be held Sept. 8 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
