’Cats split matches vs. FK

    PRESQUE ISLE — The Wildcat boys scored their first tennis victory of the season last Tuesday as they got past Fort Kent, 4-1.

    Wildcat winners were Liam Hughes in first singles, by an 8-3 score over Lance Jandreau, and Chase Norton in third singles, 8-0 over Kamran Hussain. In doubles, PI’s Mike Michaud and Chris Carroll were victorious, as were teammates Andrew Dyer and Zach Breton.
    Drew Barrett of Presque Isle was beaten, 8-0, by Ryan Chasse in No. 2 singles. Presque Isle improved to 1-3 with the win.
    The PI girls evened their mark at 2-2 following a 3-2 loss to the Warriors that same afternoon.
    The second doubles team of Michelle Cawley and Frances Castro kept their undefeated record intact with an 8-1 triumph over Samantha Dubay and Rudy Martin. PI’s other win came courtesy of Hilary Boucher in second singles. She knocked off Lauren Doak, 8-4.
    PI’s Sara Gilson and Sedona Lucas lost their singles matches, while Blair Bailey and Lora Ireland came up short in No. 1 doubles.
    The PI teams were back in action Tuesday as they made the trip to Caribou to take on the Vikings. In their first meeting April 25, the PI girls managed a 3-2 win, while the Wildcat boys fell, 5-0.
    The Wildcats’ next match is home against Houlton this afternoon. The regional singles tourney is Saturday in Caribou.
