On April 28, the Aroostook Association of the United Church of Christ held its spring meeting at the First Congregational Church in East Millinocket. Following registration and a time of fellowship a worship service was led by the Rev. Dottie Hutch and the meeting was then opened by moderator Candy McKellar.

Attending the meeting as delegates from The Whittier Congregational Church were Bertha Pray, Linda  Deprey, Candy McKellar and myself. Following the meeting, a delicious supper was served to the many delegates and special guests, who were delegates from the Penobscot and Pisquataquis Association.
I have been told by Nancy Kennedy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Palmer, that the Palmers will not be arriving home from Florida until early June, providing that they don’t change their minds before that. They may make it just before the black flies and mosquitoes come out.
I have certainly been enjoying this wonderful weather and have been getting lots of little outdoor chores done. One was to rake up a great pile of sunflower shells from beneath my feeders. I still have some birds coming every day, as it is quite chilly in the mornings and they seem hungry. The Red poles are here and, of course, the gold finches, so I am still running out to the feeders, but not as often. And my neighbor and I have had fun watching a little fat woodchuck waddling around between our two houses and Sam’s. I first saw him out by my barn and then out by my front steps. Imagine he has quite a trail to waddle around on. The three deer show up, usually late afternoon. I think we need rain to help with the growth of whatever they graze on in my back yard, as they don’t stay very long now. They probably wander back toward Dyer Brook where there is more growth for them to nibble on.
