Craig Warren Child, 67, passed away on April 19, 2013, with the loving care and support of his wife and children at his side. Craig was born on May 2, 1945, to Thora L. and Allen W. Child. He was raised in his hometown of Dixfield, Maine.
Craig was a graduate of Ricker College in Houlton, receiving his degree in psychology and sociology in 1967. His 38-year teaching career began at Southern Aroostook Community School in Dyer Brook and Roosevelt School in Linneus, followed by many years of devoted service as a middle school teacher at SAD #70 Elementary in Hodgdon. Craig retired in 2005. After his retirement, he and his wife, Trina, relocated to New Hampshire to be closer to their children.
Craig’s priority was to his role of devoted husband, father, and most recently, a first-time grandfather. Even in his final days, he rallied to provide his family and closest friends with strength, empowerment, and infinite love. An educator-at-heart, he taught by example; as a man, he loved without reservation.
Craig was an avid ham radio operator and was happiest spending countless hours surrounded by his various radios and scanners.
Craig was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Trina A. Child of Merrimack, NH; his daughter, Kristen A. Godsoe and her husband, Scott; his son, Kevin A. Child; and his “angel” (granddaughter), Isabella Claire Godsoe, all of Reading, MA. He is also survived by his brother, Grayson A.
