CARIBOU — Marko the Magician stopped by the Caribou Performing Arts Center to entertain a good-sized audience with his humorous and unique magic and hypnosis show last Friday.
Originally from Caribou, Marko makes the trip back to his hometown from Vermont each year to benefit the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department. CFAD uses the funds for public awareness programs like Learn Not to Burn.

“Marko does a fantastic job for us,” CFAD Chief Scott Susi said. “He is always willing to come up and puts on a great show.”
The first portion of the performance featured Marko bringing younger members of the audience up on stage and wowing them with his slick slight of hand tricks. After a brief intermission, the magician/hypnotist then called for older members of the audience to join him on stage to be hypnotized.
About 20 participants came up for the hypnosis session and about half fell under and remained to engage in such activities as not being able to recall their full names, petting their shoes that they had been tricked into believing were bunny rabbits, then subsequently watching in horror as Marko stomped through the “Bunny Hop” directly over said shoes/bunnies.
A particularly comical bit was two of the hypnosis participants having the misfortune of being convinced they had eaten spicy food the day before and were suffering the after-effects, scooting themselves across the stage much like a dog would do to relieve the unmentionable pain each time Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” was played.
According to Susi, the show was another success and CFAD looks forward to Marko’s return to The County next year.
