HOULTON – The American Bankers Association (ABA) has honored Katahdin Trust Company with its Community Commitment Award. The recognition was made based on Katahdin Trust Company’s commitment to the communities it serves and has been awarded to the bank for the past several years.
This most recent award was made for 2012, during which Katahdin Trust Company donated over $225,000 to the communities that it serves. “Corporately, Katahdin Trust Company gives much back to our communities, and we’re proud and privileged to do so,” said Jon J. Prescott, president and CEO. “But it’s equally gratifying to know that our employees share this care and concern and give many hours of their personal time, to create a higher quality of life in our communities.”

The bank’s 194 employees rolled up their sleeves outside the confines of the Bank to invest over 13,000 hours of volunteer service for a host of civic, charitable, church, educational and economic development organizations.
Prescott applauded his employees for sharing a common thread of commitment to serving others.
“The volunteer efforts of our employees ranged from coaching little league teams to ringing bells for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season,” he said. “Others offer their service on the boards of local hospitals, colleges and other civic organizations.”
