Troopers receive assignments

AUGUSTA — Maine’s 11 newest state troopers have been told that they will “see the best and worst of people” as they begin their new careers.

The Chief of the State Police, Colonel Robert Williams, administered the oath of office to the new Troopers in ceremonies today at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.  The new Troopers have completed eight weeks of specialized State Police training  and will now patrol with a veteran Trooper for the next few weeks. Colonel Williams told his newest Troopers, “ You will hear and see things that you can never repeat and will know people’s most inner secrets.  Unlike most professions, you will be expected to make decisions in a fraction of a second while under tremendous stress, and the public expects nothing less”
Being assigned to Troop F in Houlton are Andrew Levesque of Madawaska and Jacob Ferland of Bangor. Levesque will patrol in northern Aroostook County. Levesque is a former Van Buren police officer and graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Ferland will patrol in southern Aroostook County. He is a former Veazie police officer and graduated from Husson University.
