Vacation events planned at rec
PRESQUE ISLE — The annual Peanut Carnival highlights vacation week activities offered by the Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department April 15-19.
On Thursday, April 18 from 1:30-3 p.m., children in grades kindergarten through six are invited to partake in carnival games using gold coins. Coins can be cashed in at the end of the event for a goodie bag. The $1 admission covers starter coins and the chance to win a new bicycle.
Monday. April 15 is contest day from 9-11:30 a.m. Children in grades 1-6 will participate in a variety of games including table tennis, Connect Four, checkers and more.
Wiffle ball will be played Tuesday, April 16 at Riverside Park from 10-11:30 a.m. and if it rains, gym games will take place at the same time at the William Haskell Community Center. Students in grades 3-6 are invited to participate.
The Pine Street baseball diamond will be the site of kick ball for grades 3-6 on Wednesday, April 17 from 9:30-11 a.m. In the event of rain, the venue will shift to the community center.
The Aroostook County Dodgeball Tournament is slated for Friday, April 19 at the community center. Recreation teams from throughout the region will make the trip to Presque Isle for the double-elimination tourney, which begins at 9 a.m. There will be divisions for grades 3-5 and 6-8.
Also on Friday, April 19, a “dollar day” is offered at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool. Local residents may swim from 1-2:45 p.m. for just $1.
Open gym will be offered Monday, Tuesday and Friday during vacation week. The times are 1-3 p.m. for elementary school students and 3-5 p.m. for middle school and high school students.
