After a time of socializing, the business meeting was called to order by President Donna Brewer. She led in the Prayer of Invocation, followed by the Purpose Pledge of the UMW.
The secretary’s report was read and accepted as read. Treasurer Diane Ketchum read the treasurer’s report which was accepted as read. She also read two thank-you notes from members who received Easter flowers.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, April 2, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speakers were Dottie Sines and Steve Farnham of the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging.
Dottie spoke about the Meals on Wheels Program and thanked the club for supporting the program both financially and by providing delivery drivers. Support by the local community is key to the success of this program. The area seniors that participate in this program are very appreciative — not only of a hot meal but also a short, friendly visit each day by the delivery person.
Funding for this program comes from federal, state and local sources as well as the recipients themselves if they are able, although with the various cuts being made by the government, some funding is in trouble.
Special thanks went to Rotarian Ray Jones for his support of the program for over 14 years.

This is a statewide event that began on March 29 and will end on April 26, with 22 meetings scheduled from Fort Kent to Saco. The purpose is to share the gospel message across Maine and to see individuals and churches mobilized to have an effect on their communities.
There are nine churches from Bridgewater to Presque Isle that have come together to plan and sponsor this event in Mars Hill.
“Our communities and our nation are in desperate need of revival and for God to be restored to His rightful place in our homes, our churches and our government. It is our prayer that this event can be a catalyst for a great spiritual awakening in our time,” said Pastor Mitch Ross of the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill.
There will be no charge for this event. For more information, call Pastor Ross at 429-8069.
