Spring Fun Day
A spring fun day will be held on Tuesday, April 16 from 9 a.m.-noon for youths in grades 3-6 at the Caribou Recreation and Wellness Center.
Archery
Archery is being offered to youths in grades 5-8 on Thursday, April 18 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The fee is $20 per person. Pre-registration is required.
C.P.R./A.E.D. and First Aid Training
There will be a C.P.R./A.E.D. and first aid training course on April 18 and 20 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. This course is open to those in grades 5 through adults. The fee is $35 per person. Pre-registration is required.
ATV safety course
An ATV Safety course will be held at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on Friday, April 19 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This course is open to those ages 10 through adults. The fee is $5 per person. Pre-registration is required.
Allagash Tails and Tales
A presentation entitled “Allagash Tails and Tales” by Tim Caverly will be offered at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on Friday, April 19 from 6-7 p.m. The fee is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
Boating symposium
On Friday, April 19 from 7-8 p.m., the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will host a boating symposium. Come see all the latest canoe and kayak gear or win a customized paddling instruction. These are some of the events planned for this symposium. There is also a $10 raffle for a chance to win a new Old Town Discovery 119 canoe with PDF and paddle. Everyone is welcome.
Bicycle inspection
On Saturday, April 20 from 1-2 p.m. free bicycle inspections will be offered. Bring your bicycle and a complementary inspection will be performed.
Walking hours
Walking hours are the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from noon-4 p.m.
Men’s 30-and-over basketball
Men’s 30 and over basketball meets on Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon and Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m through April 30. This program is designed for gentlemen 30 years of age and over and meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym. The fee is $3 per player on Sundays.
Power of Prevention class
The free Power of Prevention exercise class meets on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Cary fitness class
Cary Fitness class meets Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Come join Cary for a rich variety of exercises that range from cardiovascular exercise, muscular strength, balance and coordination. This class is designed for middle aged and senior adults looking to improve or maintain their fitness level while being part of a friendly and social group of people. The fee is $1 per class.
Zumba classes
Zumba classes are held Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-9 a.m. The fee is $6 per class or a card of 10 classes for $50.
Pokémon game club
The next meeting of the Pokémon game club at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will be on Friday, April 12 from 3:15-5 p.m. Other upcoming meeting dates are April 26, May 3, 10, 17 and 31; and June 7.
Hershey Track and Field
Hershey Track and Field introduces youth to the basic fundamentals of running, throwing and jumping. Boys and girls participating in the program may be eligible to move onto the Hershey Track and Field regional finals. This program is for ages 9-14 and starts April 22.
Community Pride Day
The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department and Pepsi Cola Bottling of Presque Isle are looking for volunteers to help clean up parks and landscape areas in our town. The cleanup day is slated for Saturday April 27 from 8 a.m.-noon. Lunch will be provided at noon for volunteers at Teague Park. All volunteers must register at the Caribou Parks and Recreation office at 493-4224.
