PRESQUE ISLE — A local man is facing multiple charges following an incident at a Main Street bar early Sunday involving a gun.
“Beginning around 12:05 a.m. on April 7, the Presque Isle Police Department began taking numerous phone calls of a man with a gun at Bou’s Brew Pub on Main Street. Officers responded and found that staff members from Bou’s had the man outside detained and had taken a loaded firearm from him,” said Sgt. Eric Erickson, of the PIPD, who responded to the call, assisted by Cpl. Wayne Selfridge of the PIPD.
According to the police log, bouncers at the establishment were able to relieve the man of his weapon without incident, prior to police arriving.
“I arrested Wayne Boulier, 32, of Presque Isle, without incident, with the assistance of Cpl. Selfridge and Maine State Police Troopers Rob Flynn and Nick Casavant,” said Erickson.
Boulier was transported to the PIPD for processing, where he was charged on multiple counts.
“Boulier, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, was arrested for the following offenses: possessing a firearm in a liquor establishment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; violating condition of release; carrying a concealed weapon; possession of a usable amount of marijuana and unlawful possession of a scheduled Z drug,” said Erickson.
Boulier was unable to make bail and was being held at the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton as of presstime. He is scheduled to appear in Caribou Superior Court at 9 a.m. on July 23.
Police wished to thank the Pub employees for their efforts in preventing what could have been a serious situation.
“The Presque Isle Police Department commends the staff of Bou’s Brew Pub for how they resolved this potentially dangerous situation,” said Erickson.
