CARIBOU — A Caribou woman sustained minor injuries when she lost control of her vehicle on April 3 in St Agatha.
Maria McIntyre, 31, of Caribou was driving a 1997 Volvo southbound on Rt. 162 when she lost control and the vehicle rolled over on its roof, according to Maine State Police officials.
Sgt. Chad Fuller and Troopers Corey Hafford and Chuck Michaud of the MSP responded to the accident at roughly 10:48 p.m.; McIntyre was not wearing her seatbelt during the accident, sustained minor injuries and was not transported by an ambulance.
According to a MSP press release, the vehicle sustained significant damage and McIntyre was charged with operating under the influence and operating after suspension; the Bangor Daily News reported on April 5 that at some point in the evening before the April 3 accident, McIntyre was seen driving way from a Presque Isle gas station without paying for two gallons of gasoline, as stated by Presque Isle Police Chief Matthew Irwin.
As reported by the BDN, Irwin said that McIntyre went into the convenience store with a passenger who had been in her car, and when the clerk turned his back, she left the store in her car and left the passenger behind
As of April 4, the investigation is ongoing in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Office and Presque Isle PD.
Assisting with the investigation were officials with the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
