HOULTON — Town leaders will hold a budget forum with the local representatives in the Maine Legislature Friday at 6 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center.

“The purpose of the forum is allow you to meet with municipal officers, school officials, and the general public from southern Aroostook County about the Governor’s proposed budget and the current deliberations of the Legislature on that budget, especially as it relates to the loss of municipal revenues and the potential for shifting up to one-half the costs of teacher retirement to local schools,” said Houlton Town Manager Eugene Conlogue.
Representatives who have confirmed they will be attending include Senator Roger Sherman, Representative Joyce Fitzpatrick and Tribal Representative Henry Bear. Representatives Tyler Clark, Ricky Long and Alex Willette were also invited to attend.
The format will be informal, Conlogue said, with each representative addressing the audience for 3-5 minutes, followed by questions and comments from local officials and the general public.
