Proud Moment

When I made the middle school basketball team as a sixth grader, I couldn’t stop smiling. I was so happy.
After tryouts on the last day, Coach Bates pulled me aside and showed me the roster. My name was the second name on the list. We had our first practice the next night. We ran a lot. We did something where four people shot a foul shot. If the first person missed it, they ran to the foul line and back to the end line. If the second person missed it, they had to run to half court back to the end line then to the foul line and back to the end line again. If the third person missed, you ran to the opposite foul line, back to the end line, to the half court, to the end line, then to the foul line, and to the end line for a third time. If all four people missed, all would need to run a suicide which is a lot of running.
