TWOMBLY, Edith June, 79, KITTERY & PRESQUE ISLE, at Sanford, March 7, 2013. A graveside committal service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, on a date to be determined this Spring. Arrangements are in the care of J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, Kittery.

    KITTERY & PRESQUE ISLE – Edith June Twombly, 79, passed away peacefully at Greenwood Center, Sanford, surrounded by her three children, March 7, 2013. She was born June 1, 1933, in Belfast, the daughter of Harry and Daisy Ann (Corkum) Eaton.
    She was a graduate of Crosby High School. Upon graduation, she went on to marry Dumont “Tom” Twombly, and they relocated to Presque Isle where they enjoyed raising their family together as part of the Oak Street neighborhood for 17 years, where Edith worked as an excellent home maker. She was an active member of Presque Isle St. John’s Episcopal Church.
    Dumont passed in 1970 and Edith started her professional career working in the banking industry in Presque Isle, Bangor, Portland and finally in York where she worked at Fleet Bank as Branch Operations Supervisor until her retirement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her morning walks on York Long Sands Beach. Above all she loved and cherished her eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
    She is survived by her son and two daughters, Bruce Twombly and his wife, Donna of Eagle Lake, Ann Twombly of Eliot, and Debora Blethen and her husband, Robert of Yarmouth; granddaughters, Heather and Lisa; grandsons, Robert, Kevin, Dillon, Thomas, Ryan and Patrick; great-grand-children, Austin, Katelyn, Taitum, Hailey, Evan and Amelia. She was predeceased by her husband; Dumont as well as her nine brothers and sisters.
    A graveside committal service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, on a date to be determined this Spring. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, DAV Memorial Program, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH  45250-0301. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.
