Well it ain’t over until the fat lady sings, and although she is not singing just yet, she sure is humming loud. Rain and warm temperatures have played havoc with fields and trails across The County, but you will still find a good snow pack from Oxbow south to Shin Pond and the Katahdin region, as well as Eagle Lake, Allagash and the Debouille Loop. Basically higher elevations and further west the snow pack will hold for another week or two.
NOAA is forecasting some snow showers, which will be good to help sledders, as an expected fall in temperatures will harden up surfaces limiting lubrication.
Rivers all have open water so stay clear. Lakes have lots of water and although typical routes remain water covered but rideable, inlets are running fast and ice conditions are changing quickly so use extreme caution if you do venture out.
It was predicted that at least a foot of snow would fall in southern Aroostook County last evening into today.
