LIMESTONE – Gertrude M. Perry, 72, wife of Levi W. Perry Sr., passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2013, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born September 13, 1940, in Lille, the daughter of Alfred and Mattie (Ouellette) Chabre.
She was educated in Keegan and Van Buren schools and lived in Connecticut where she worked at the Valarie Manor Nursing Home in Torrington for a number of years. After returning to Maine, Gertrude was employed at the Limestone Manor Boarding Home and later worked for Senior Domestics, Presque Isle, for several years.
Gertrude was married to Levi W. Perry Sr. on July 3, 1982, and enjoyed making jewelry, knitting, puzzles and greatly loved her therapy dog, Kiki.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Perry was predeceased by one son, Donald Michaud; one daughter, Joanne Michaud. She is survived by her husband of nearly 31 years, Levi W. Perry, Sr., of Limestone; four stepsons, Levi W. Perry Jr. of Limestone, Edmund Perry and his wife, Lisa of Rochester, NH, Francis Perry of Limestone, Mike Perry and his wife, Felisha of Snellville, GA; two stepdaughters, Patty Olson and her husband, Rick, and Pam Frye, all of Snellville, GA; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A private interment service will be conducted at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou.
