‘Know Your Region’ workshops

The Katahdin Tourism Partnership is sponsoring two free“ Know Your Region” workshops on Tuesday, March 26 for tourism businesses in the Katahdin area.
The first workshop is a morning session and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Patten Lumbermen’s Museum. The second is an afternoon session and will be from 3-6 p.m. at the Katahdin Region Higher Education Center in East Millinocket. The sessions cover the same material so that businesses may select whichever one is more convenient.

The purpose of these workshops is to inform tourism business owners and frontline workers (and anyone who communicates directly with visitors) about all the unique offerings of the Katahdin area so that they can in turn direct visitors to high-quality activities and experiences. The goal is to keep tourists in the area (and hopefully at area businesses) longer and instill in them a desire to come back for more adventures.
Workshop participants will leave with a binder of brochures and maps that they can take back to their businesses to reference when a visitor asks “so what is there to do around here anyway?” The binder will have information on Katahdin area trails, Baxter State Park, the Katahdin Woods and Waters Scenic Byway, the Maine Birding Trail and much more.
Registration for these workshops is required. For questions and registration, please call 779-6355 or e-mail info@katahdinpartnership.org. For more information on the Katahdin Tourism Partnership, please visit www.katahdinpartnership.org.
These workshops are part of the Maine Woods Tourism Training Initiative — a project of the Maine Woods Consortium and sponsored by the Katahdin Tourism Partnership.
