The first Hot Brook Lakes Ice Fishing Derby, in honor of John O. “Jack” McEwen, Jr., will be held Saturday on the upper and lower Hot Brook lakes in Danforth.
All participants must have a 2013 Maine fishing license.
First, second and third prizes by weight will be paid in each fish category — pickerel or white perch — for both kids and adult divisions. There will be door prizes and more.
Fifty percent of the entry fee goes to the fish winners, while the other 50 percent goes to the East Grand Outdoor Education Program.
Entry fee is $20 for youth 16 to adult and $5 for kids. One child under 10 registered with an adult is free.
Pre-registration is available at The Mill Yard, 162 Houlton Road in Danforth. Registration is also available the day of the derby from 7 a.m. to noon. at the weigh-in location on upper Hot Brook Lake boat launch.
