FORT FAIRFIELD — A local man made his first appearance in U.S. District Court in Bangor last week, on child pornography charges.

Christopher Keith Hitchcock, 25, of Fort Fairfield, is charged with receipt, transportation and possession of child pornography. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in Bangor on Feb. 7.

On Thursday Hitchcock pleaded not guilty.

It’s alleged Hitchcock used e-mail to send images of child pornography between June 24, 2010, and March 24, 2011, and reportedly received images of child pornography from June 20, 2010, through Nov. 8, 2010. The indictment indicates between June 20, 2010, and May 31, 2011, Hitchcock was in possession of child pornography.

Hitchcock agreed on Friday, Feb. 15, to be held without bail pending the outcome of his case.

April 2 was tentatively set by U.S. District Judge John Woodcock as Hitchcock’s trial date.

If convicted, Hitchcock faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on the possession charges; additionally, Hitchcock faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison on the transporting and receiving child pornography charge.
