    Pelkey, Kennth R. Sr., 88, February 1, 2013.

American Flag Color    PATTEN – Kenneth Raymond Pelkey, Sr., 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior Feb. 1, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 22, 1924, at Moro, the son of Raymond B. and Cynthya (Kennedy) Pelkey.
Ken proudly served his country during World War II, where he earned a purple heart as a member of the US Army. He was known as an excellent worker for the Sherman Lumber Company, even after losing his arm in a serious accident. It was said by many co-workers that Ken would accomplish more in a day with one arm than many with two good arms. Ken was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He could always be seen sitting in the front row at his grandchildren’s ballgames and various school events. There was nothing more important to him than family. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Hassan Abouleish and the staff at Gardiner Health Care Facility.
Ken is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois (Webster) Pelkey; three children, Kenny Pelkey and his wife Beth of Stacyville, Becky Cullen and her husband Jerry of Patten, Faith Rickards and her husband Albert of Patten; 13 precious grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; a very special nephew Gary Pyle. He was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Cindy Carver and his siblings.
Memorial service was held at the Patten Pentecostal Church Saturday, Feb. 9 with Rev. Jim Gray officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Ken’s memorial to the Gardiner Health Care Activity Fund, c/o Dunn Funeral Home,11 Park Street, Houlton, 04730.
