Snowman contest cancelled

PRESQUE ISLE — A new contest in the Presque Isle area that was set to challenge local businesses, organizations and residents to turn the Star City — and neighboring towns — into the Snow City has been cancelled.
Based on the lack of snow last Friday, event organizers determined that the Star City Snowman and Snow Sculpture Contest would not be feasible. The event, being co-sponsored by the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce and The Aroostook Medical Center, had been scheduled to run Feb. 9-15 for communities served by the chamber of commerce and those with TAMC facilities.
Despite the setback, event organizers are already looking ahead to next year for a snow sculpture contest and other winter festivities in the community.
