Health Services Foundation to draw diamond winners

HOULTON — “If the diamond raffle were a horse race then we are in the home stretch for ticket sales,” said Elizabeth Dulin, Health Services Foundation executive director.
Tomorrow is that wonderful day that many ladies wish for all year long hoping that the love of her life will pop the “Big Question.”

For those who aren’t worried about the “Big Ask”, there is always the anticipation of who will be the lucky winner for the Foundation’s Diamond Ring.
The fact that this year’s raffle will be the last for the Foundation in partnership with Goodrich Jewelry everyone decided that “Going Platinum” would certainly equate to a “Big Finish”, and it has indeed.  Our one-carat three-stone platinum diamond ring, platinum pendant with platinum chain, and platinum diamond earring are a huge hit. Everyone loves the ring and there has been serious attention given to the pendant in that it presents like this amazing, perfect shining star at 1/2 carat in a bezel setting. The earrings are noteworthy in that they will make a statement due to a size that is perfect, not only for a great night out on the town but for every day as well. Understated elegance at its finest is what these pieces are all about.
“Last week, I was given the honor of doing the guest column by the Pioneer Times and presented my story about going down memory lane with this event,” Dulin said. “From Walter Goodrich’s beginning idea of “why not do a diamond ring raffle”, to these amazing pieces offered this year, gross ticket sales have brought in more than $150,000 (not counting this year).”
That funding has allowed the Foundation to assist with so many hospital projects/equipment, and other healthcare provider needs, she added. Overall patients are being afforded the very best access we have to offer for healthcare options every year with this wonderful fundraiser.
“There are not enough words to say ‘thank you’ to Walter and ‘thanks’ to our communities who have been incredibly supportive of this great funding raising event, as it has been an amazing run because of everyone,” Dulin noted.
The drawing will be held Thursday, Valentine’s Day, at 5 p.m. at Goodrich Jewelry, on North Road, Houlton.
“We look forward to seeing all those who may be able to join us for the last suspenseful moments for “Who Will Be Our Winners”.  I’m sure the evening will be mixed with humor about how this event has gone through the years, sadness at losing Walter as a significant supporter of everything the Foundation stands for, and happiness for his future. Our past winners have been amazed they won, tomorrow’s winners will be just as amazed, and because everyone has chosen to spend a few dollars for a great organization, everyone is a winner in my eyes,” said Dulin, Foundation Executive Director.
Jewelry items may be seen and tickets purchased at Goodrich Jewelry, North Road, Houlton, or:  call the Foundation Office at 207-521-2503 for further information and credit card sales; all major credit cards are accepted.
“Ticket sales have been brisk, so help us reach the finish line in grand fashion and say ‘thank you’ to Walter by purchasing your $20 ticket before they are gone,” Dulin said.
