PRESQUE ISLE — Girls interested in competing for the titles of Little Miss and Junior Miss Presque Isle 2013 are encouraged to apply — but hurry, the deadline is Friday, Feb. 15.
“The 2013 Little Miss Presque Isle/Junior Miss Presque Isle pageants will be held in March at the Presque Isle Middle School Auditorium. The Junior Miss Pageant will be held on Friday, March 29, and the Little Miss event will be held on Saturday, March 30 — both beginning at 7 p.m. on their respective days,” said Claudia Stevens, executive director of the United Way of Aroostook.
Girls enrolled in the first, second and third grades who attend SAD 1 schools are encouraged to enter the Little Miss Pageant. Girls who are in sixth, seventh or eighth grades who attend Presque Isle Middle School are welcome to enter the Junior Miss Pageant.
“All girls in these groups are encouraged to run for the title of Little Miss and Junior Miss Presque Isle. It is an opportunity for them to develop personal skills as well as have a good time,” said Stevens.
Funds raised during these events will be donated to the UWA to help the agencies that respond to health and human services needs. To obtain an application, students should go to the main office of the school they attend or get an application at the UWA office, located in the KeyBank building on Main Street. If you have any questions in regards to either pageant, call the UWA office at 764-5197.
Deadline for applications is Friday by 4 p.m. The first meeting/practice with the girls and their parents will be on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at the fourth-floor UWA headquarters.
The Little Miss/Junior Miss Presque Isle pageants will be directed this year by Barbara Halvorson and sponsored by Pancsofar’s Bridal Shop.
