Swimmers ready for PVC meet

    PRESQUE ISLE — The Wildcats and Vikings met in the pool for a head-to-head competition for the final time this season last Wednesday, with the meet also serving as both teams’ final tuneup before the championships.

    Both Presque Isle and Caribou will next compete in this weekend’s Penobscot Valley Conference championship. The boys’ meet is Friday and the girls’ meet is Saturday, with both taking place at Husson University in Bangor.
    In the recent meet at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool, the Wildcat teams came away with victories. The girls’ score was 48-34 and the boys’ score was 65-20.
    Results were as follows:
    Girls’ 200-yard medley relay: first, Presque Isle (Olivia Goulet, Jacqueline Lambert, Emma Michalowski and Sara Gilson), 2:33.21; second, Caribou (Katie Pelletier, Krsna Johnson, Rachel Wasson and Laksmis Johnson), 2:49.11; and third, Caribou (Courtney Cote, Olivia Engstrom, Jensen Jones and Brenan Page), 3:05.46.
    Boys’ 200-yard medley relay: first, Presque Isle (Dustin Drabek, Alex Hemphill, Nathaniel Dewitt and Keegan Ennis), 2:02.66.
    Girls’ 200 freestyle: first, Wasson, Caribou, 2:48.18; second, Engstrom, Caribou, 3:12.96; and third, Laura Watson, PI, 3:28.66.
    Boys’ 200 free: first, Drabek, PI, 2:11.41; second, Austin Scott, Caribou, 2:24.88; and third, David Cyr, PI, 2:27.91.
    Girls’ 200 individual medley: first, Alexis Coiley, Fort Fairfield, 2:40.
    Boys’ 200 I.M: first, Hemphill, PI, 2:29.03; and second, Dewitt, PI, 2:29.33.
    Girls’ 50 free: first, Michalowski, PI, 33.76; second, Heather Nadeau, PI, 34:36; third, L. Johnson, Caribou, 34.7; and fourth, Page, Caribou, 40.28.
