PRESQUE ISLE — Adam MacDonald, 27, of Presque Isle, is once again raising funds to find a cure for Duschenne Muscular Dystrophy, which he was diagnosed with around 1990.
“We need a cure for our children,” said his mother, Cheryl Markey. “Anyone wishing to help the cause can donate to Team Adam MacDonald vs. Duchenne.”
The team will be walking this Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Maine Mall in Portland, beginning at 8 a.m. Markey said they’d love to have others join them.
“Please help Adam fulfill his dream of having the largest team in history for MDA here in Maine,” said Markey. “We’d love to have others join the walk if they’re able. Or folks can make a donation if they can’t attend.”
MacDonald is taking part in this year’s walk in memory of two special people in his life: his friend, Nicholas Davis, who lost his fight against DMD in 2009, shortly after celebrating his 17th birthday; and his friend DJ Murphy who also has DMD and was recently hospitalized for treatment of the flu and pneumonia.
