Thomas is approximately 2 years old and one very fun cat residing at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue Adoption Center, located at 489 South Maine St. in Caribou. Volunteers say that Thomas will do well in any family with other animals, as long as he is allowed the freedom of going inside and outside for hunting purposes. “Thomas is an avid hunter and has great confidence in himself if in conflict with other predators — the coyotes can beware of this Tom,” volunteers joked. In their opinion, Thomas would flourish as a barn cat, who would be allowed in the house occasionally for some happy family time. “In return for a generous daily supply of cat food and fresh water each day, he will bring you gifts of mice, rats, squirrels, etc. as he knows how much you appreciate his help,” said HHPR President Norma Milton. All of Thomas’s medical procedures have been completed and his adoption fee is only $10 this Saturday as the shelter’s “Cover Boy Cat” of the week. HHPR volunteers greatly appreciate the community’s donation of shoes, returnable bottles and cash donation to their collection boxes in businesses. In January, HHPR took in 30 needy cats. They adopted out 31 cats/kittens, spayed/neutered 27 cats and gave out 9 spay/neuter vouchers with kitten adoptions. The HHPR mailing is PO Box 488, Caribou. Their phone number is 999-1075.
