HAYES, Audrey M., 96, PRESQUE ISLE, January 25, 2013. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Presque Isle Congregational Church. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

    PRESQUE ISLE – Audrey M. Hayes, 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 25, 2013. She was born in Presque Isle on September 9, 1916, the daughter of James and Mamie (Stairs) Hawksley.
    She was a graduate of Presque Isle High School and Normal School in Presque Isle. Audrey taught two years, had a nursery school in her home “Ding Dong School”, was an excellent home maker and cook. She and her husband, Frank, traveled together in Europe, and enjoyed their winters in Florida. Audrey was a member of the Presque Isle Congregational Church in Presque Isle, the Eastern Star and the Presque Isle Country Club.
    She is survived by her nieces, Molly Miller of West Yarmouth, Mass., Mary Ellen Schrengost of Denver, CO, Sherry (Bryant) Armstead of Acton, MA, Connie (Survant) MacDonald of Manchester and Jane (Survant) Bondville of Cumberland; nephews, Galen Johnson Jr. and William Bryant, both of CA; sister-in-law, Alice Survant of Manchester; several great- nieces and nephews; several great-great- nieces and nephews; and close friends, Sandy Gauvin, Gary and Lorna Hughes, all of Presque Isle.
    Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Frank Hayes; her son, James F.; a brother, Adelbert Hawksley; three sisters, Ruby Canders, Winifred Murphy and Arlene Johnson; and a niece, JoAnne Johnson.
    A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Presque Isle Congregational Church. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
