CARIBOU – Barbara A. Lagasse, 69, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013, after a long illness, with her family by her side. Barbara was born in Stockholm on July 19, 1943, the daughter of Gordon and Beatrice (Wedberg) Dixon.

Barbara was married to the love of her life, Rosaire “Peanut” Lagasse for over 51 wonderful years. If there was ever a marriage made in heaven, it was theirs. Barbara worked alongside Peanut for many years in their various commercial ventures which included Peanut’s Bakery, Pizza Shop, Apartments and real estate dealings. She also loved being a mother and raising their wonderful children together. Barbara was a member of the women’s Post 136 Auxiliary in Stockholm since 1969.

In addition to her husband, Peanut, Barbara is survived by her two sons, Shawn Lagasse of Augusta, and Troy Lagasse and his wife, Ellie of Caribou; her granddaughters, Grace, Faith and Megan Lagasse; her siblings, Danny Dixon and his wife, Myrna of New Sweden, Lewie Dixon of CA, Wayne Dixon and his wife, Sona of CA, and Warrena Bartley of CT. She will also be deeply missed by her long-time childhood friend, Gloria Pelletier of Caribou.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents; and her sons, Baby Lagasse and Kevin Lagasse.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, January 30, from noon to 1 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, where a funeral will be held at 1 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will be held in the spring at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery in Caribou.

The family would like to express their deepest of appreciations to the wonderful care given to Barbara, especially by Dr. Sherri Dumont and Dr. David Levy.
