Free course to offer money advice

Are you living on a fixed income or trying to dig out of debt? Do you want to get your spending under control and save for a more comfortable future?

This class is for you. Mark your calendar now, and get on track in 2013 with this free class!

Starting Feb. 25, Women, Work and Community will offer My Money Works: Tools for Smart Money Choices, a free five-week class to help you gain the skills and confidence to stretch your money, pay your bills, reduce your debt, find money for savings, plan for retirement and set personal financial goals.

Erica Quin-Easter, trainer for the class, notes, “Managing your money is scary when you don’t feel in control. Regardless of how much money you have or what stage you are in your life, this class helps you find out where your dollars are going, set your financial priorities and take charge of managing your own money.”

At the end of the class, you will have a plan in place to achieve greater financial stability. My Money Works will be held from Feb. 25 through March 25 on Monday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at the Presque Isle CareerCenter. A follow-up session is scheduled to provide additional networking and support.

Successful completion of this class meets one of the requirements for the Family Development Account (FDA) matched savings account program, which can be used to help purchase your first home, pursue your own college education, or start or expand your small business.

The class is open to women, men and couples of all ages and incomes. Pre-registration is required, and there is no fee for the training. For more information or to register for the class, call Erica Quin-Easter at Women Work & Community at 764-0050 or e-mail erica.quineaster@maine.edu.

Assistance with transportation costs is available, so don’t let cost be an issue in attending the class. Accommodations for individuals with disabilities are available upon request.
