Rep. Saucier receives
committee assignment
AUGUSTA — Rep. Robert Saucier, D-Presque Isle, will serve on the Veteran and Legal Affairs Committee during the upcoming session of the Legislature.
The committee works on policy regarding liquor laws, lottery, off-track betting, election laws, governmental ethics, Department of Defense, the Maine National Guard and veterans’ issues.
“As a member of the National Guard for 24 years, I’m thrilled to serve on the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee,” said Saucier. I look forward to working with members of both parties to find common sense solutions to the challenges we face.”
His expected committee will deal with several issues this session including the state liquor contract, gambling and casino proposals, clean election reforms and veterans’ issues.
Saucier was selected to serve on the committee by Speaker of the House Mark Eves. The Legislature has 16 joint standing committees which will begin work in early January. A list of committee members can be found www.maine.gov/legis/house/jtcomlst.htm.
