EASTON NEWS

Carla Halvorson was presented with an award at a recent Easton basketball game. She scored 94 goals in her soccer career, which is the most goals scored by either male or female in Easton’s history.

Her name is included in the 50 Goal Club and will be in the trophy case forever. Carla made All Aroostook, All East and All State this year in soccer.

In addition she was awarded the Maine Heisman Award which is truly a fantastic achievement.

At the ceremony, Carla was congratulated by Steve Shaw, athletic director for Easton; Roger Shaw, acting superintendent for Easton schools; and Brent Bradley and Tom Osgood, who also got 1000 points in their high school basketball careers.

    Congratulations on a fine career!

Reid Clark was presented with an award for scoring 1,000 points in his high school career. He won the award last year and was presented a game ball at that time. Now his name is on the 1,000-point banner that will always hang in the Easton Bears Den.

Two other men, Brent Bradley and Tom Osgood, were also there to congratulate Reid — both Bradley and Osgood got over 1,000 points in their basketball careers. This was a great accomplishment for Reid and we would like to congratulate him on this. Also on hand to congratulate him were Steve Shaw, athletic director; and Roger Shaw, acting superintendent for Easton.

CJ HALL received the Leader of the Year Award for his work at YMCA’s Camp Harrington in West Boylston, Mass. He is the son of Robyn (Pendexter Hall, formerly of Easton.

CJ Hall, son of Robyn (Pendexter) Hall, formerly of Easton, was a first-year leader last summer at the YMCA Camp Harrington in West Boylston, Mass. In November, he was nominated for the Leader of the Year Award. Then they had the awards ceremony not knowing who the winner was. Papers were read from the five nominees. They announced that the winner’s picture would appear on the screen and it was CJ. What a great job he did with the little kids at that camp. Congratulations on the great accomplishment.

Congrats to Lady Bears

Congratulations to our Lady Bears for the great win over the Mars Hill girls. That was a great accomplishment as we haven’t won a game with Mars Hill ladies in over 10 years, I believe. You played hard and it sure came through for you. Great job, ladies.

The Lady Panthers played a great game, too.

We will be there cheering for you the rest of the season. Keep up the great work. We appreciate it and we love seeing you play.
