New time set for benefit supper

Note new time! There will be a benefit supper and auction for Dustin McCrum on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Central Aroostook High School at 5 p.m. Dustin was recently diagnosed with Marfan’s Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder.
Because of this, he underwent emergency open-heart surgery on Nov. 29. He will be out of work for quite a while, so funds will be used to help the family with travel and other expenses.

Community theater tryouts
We are looking for any individuals from age 16 through adult who might be interested in helping to start a theater group in Mars Hill, Blaine and Bridgewater. We are currently looking at doing a ‘50s’ Musical Review during Winterfest, March 8 and/or 9. If you are interested in auditioning, be at Fort Street Elementary School on Thursday, Jan. 10, between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Please bring your own vocal selection or use one of the selections that will be available that evening. Be prepared to sing that evening.

Birthday calendars
The Rotary Club’s annual 2013 Birthday Calendars have arrived and are being distributed. They can also be picked up at the Katahdin Trust Company, Mars Hill Town Office, Blaine Town Office or at the Mars Hill IGA. Cost is $6 each.
Aroostook Health Center
Upcoming events for the week of Jan. 9-15 include: Wednesday will have the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Move to the Music at 9:30 a.m., Crossword Puzzles at 1:30 p.m. and Old Fashioned Revival Center at 6:30 p.m. Thursday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Karaoke with Fireman Fred at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, will feature Music with Frankie Allen at 9:30 a.m. and Crossword Puzzles at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will feature APC Church Service at 3 p.m. Sunday will have Dayroom Cinema “Lassie Come Home“ at 1:30 p.m. Monday will include Nail Beautiful at 9:30 a.m., Karaoke with Larry at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. Community Cupboard
In January, the cupboard resumed its regular dates of being open the second Tuesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. and the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. at the Mars Hill and Blaine Community. The food pantry serves the communities of Westfield, Mars Hill, Blaine, Robinson, E-Plantation and Bridgewater. If you have questions, call Rena Kearney at 429-9041.
