PRESQUE ISLE – Michael T. Johnson passed away peacefully at a Presque Isle health care facility on January 4, 2013. Michael was born December 8, 1947, in Presque Isle, to Florence and Tom Johnson. He attended the Mapleton School and was a member of the first “Mapleton” class to graduate from Presque Isle High School in 1965.
    After serving in Vietnam, Michael began his adult life as a potato grower and always loved the smell of the earth in the spring and the activity surrounding harvest in the fall. Over the years, Michael held various sales positions and was most proud of the successful snack food business that he owned for eight years.
    Mike genuinely loved people and had friends from all walks of life. He lit up a room with his booming voice, hearty laugh and jovial personality. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Presque Isle Country Club and The Aroostook Valley Country Club.
    He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Gaul) Johnson of Presque Isle; a daughter, Melissa (Johnson) St. Peter and her husband, Brian of Caribou; his parents, Florence and Tom Johnson of Presque Isle; sisters, Adena Wilson of Presque Isle, Brenda Grass and her husband, Duane of Mars Hill, and Sally LaPlante and her husband, Felix of Newberg, Oregon.
    Friends called 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. In keeping with Michael’s wishes, a private family funeral will be held at a later date.
