KINNEY, Arden R., 77, MAPLETON, at Presque Isle, January 1, 2013. Interment will be held at Tapley Cemetery in Blaine in the Spring. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

American Flag ColorMAPLETON – Arden R. Kinney passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Aroostook Medical Center on January 1, 2013. Arden was born on May 27, 1935, in Blaine, to Burnes and Laura (Brewer) Kinney. As a boy, he lived in E Plantation with his family where he enjoyed many hours fishing and hunting. He attended school in Mars Hill and later graduated from Aroostook Central Institute.
    He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. Arden began working at Maine Public Service Company in September 1959 and retired in January of 1996, completing a 37 year career. After leaving the military in 1956, he lived in Long Island, New York, where he met and married Marilyn Morris. Together they relocated to Mars Hill, ME, and then later to Mapleton. They built a home on Hanson Lake where they were together until her passing. In 1993, he married Ella L. (Dighton) Kinney. They enjoyed 20 years of marriage together.
    Arden is survived by his loving wife, Ella; her children, Michael Jones of Mars Hill, Cindy and Robert Murphy of Bridgton, Sheila and Dean MacDougall of Mapleton, and Mark Jones of Maynard, MA. He is also survived by four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Roland and June Kinney of Auburndale, FL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    In addition to his parents, Arden was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn.
    Visitation was held on Fri., Jan. 4, 2013, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle from 12-1 p.m., where a Funeral Service was held at 1 p.m., Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.
