Houlton High School has announced that Rebekah Holmes has been chosen to receive the 2012 DAR Good Citizen Award, sponsored by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Each year this prestigious award is presented to a high school senior who exemplifies the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Holmes was among three outstanding members of the Class of 2013 to be nominated for the honor by the faculty at Houlton High School before being voted in as the winner by the Senior Class. In addition to local recognition, Holmes will be competing against other DAR winners from throughout Maine in the Good Citizen Essay Scholarship Contest with the potential to move on to the National level.
