The Caribou girls’ basketball team is still looking for its first win after being swept by MDI and Ellsworth at home over the weekend.
Summaries of those and other games played through Saturday are as follows:
Ellsworth 56, Caribou 42 — Despite Alexa Massey’s career-high 28 points, the Viking girls fell to 0-6 after Saturday’s home loss to Ellsworth.
The Eagles’ balanced attack proved to be too much, as Morgan Card and Hailee Langley scored 12 each, Taylor White netted 11 and Annika Firestone eight.
Limestone-MSSM 55, Wisdom 25 — The visiting Eagles scored the game’s first 13 points to cruise past the Pioneers Friday.
Kassee Albert had 15 points and Daniele Pelkey scored 10 and also picked up seven steals for the victors, who improved to 4-3.
Mount Desert Island 66, Caribou 36 — The Trojans proved to be too much for the Vikings Friday, with Hannah Shaw’s 19 points leading the way toward the easy win.
Massey had 15 and Rebecca McDougal 13 to pace the offense for Caribou.
Limestone-MSSM 47, Van Buren 37 — The Eagles earned a key home win last Wednesday behind a tough defense which limited VB’s high-scoring junior guard Parise Rossignol to six second-half points and 18 for the game.
“We played great defense and rebounded pretty well, often limiting them to one shot,” said Limestone-MSSM coach Ryan O’Neal.

Mariah Williams had 18 points, including a pair of three-point field goals, and Chelsey Pelkey notched 11 points, all coming in the second half, along with four steals and five rebounds. Alexis Bell posted eight points and eight boards.
The Eagles managed to score just one point in the second quarter after leading by eight at the end of the first. They then put 32 points on the board in the second half, including a 17-9 run over the final eight minutes to win going away.
“Van Buren played a lot of zone and we were patient and waited for good looks,” O’Neal added. “When they switched to man-to-man with four minutes remaining, our quickness let us put it away.”
Old Town 50, Caribou 41 — At Old Town’s McKenzie Gymnasium Dec. 22, the Coyotes prevailed as Brooke Cole was the high scorer with 11 points to lead a very balanced offense.
Massey scored 15 points and McDougal had 12 for the Vikings. Katelynn Tardie posted nine more for Caribou, which fell to 0-4 with the loss.
Fort Kent 47, Limestone-MSSM 43 — Abby Bouchard had a dominating performance to key the Warriors to another win. She scored 19 points and hauled in 15 rebounds to key the four-point victory in a game played Dec. 21 at Fort Kent.
Chelsey Pelkey scored 18 points for Limestone-MSSM and Cantafio tossed in nine more.
Fort Fairfield 46, Easton 33 — At Easton Dec. 21, Whitney McNamee scored 12 points, Jessica Goshorn added eight and Nicole Giberson seven to key the Tigers’ win.
