Meet Little Marmalade, who, weighing in at less than nine ounces, is proof that some things come in very tiny but sweet packages. Although the three-week-old male kitten has been in a foster home for two weeks, he still is not the proper size for a kitten his age. He refuses KMR formula and bottle feeding, but volunteers have discovered his appetite for people’s Stage One chicken and chicken gravy baby food. On occasion Marble, as he’s affectionately nicknamed, will treat himself to a small amount of real light tuna fish in water or some pate-style canned chicken cat food. HHPR volunteers have lost their hearts in trying to save little Marble, who has now transferred into a different foster family where he can have more individual comfort and care. HHPR is in need of dry Purina Cat Chow and dry Purina Kitten Chow, Stage One chicken and chicken gravy baby food for Marble, non-scoopable cat litter and chicken canned cat food. Items for the Free Pet Food Pantry can be left in the HHPR basket at Paradis Shop’n Save in Caribou or dropped off at 11 Pioneer Avenue. For more information, call Mary Rowe at 999-1075. The HHPR’s new location is at 489 South Main St. and is open by appointment only for adoption and on every Saturday afternoon from 12 noon to 3 p.m. HHPR is a 501 c3 non-profit and their mailing address is PO Box 488, Caribou, ME, 04736. Their website is www.halfwayhomepetrescue.org. Their adoptable cats can be found on petfinder.com and on Facebook.
