The holiday was a very special time for the Tasker family this year. I absolutely love my new job and feel so fortunate to be able to serve Caribou and the area in this new capacity. I received a real treat this week too as Senator Susan Collins sent a congratulatory note. That was very kind of her.
I know I have been going on and on about the new website for several weeks now, but the site is really going to be exciting and we are now about a week to 10 days from launch. I have been working on the Members Section and that will be spectacular. As I enter each member business, whenever possible, their company or organization website is visited and I cull their logo. So for most member listings, the company’s logo will be alongside. I can also add pictures and when possible, have added those as well. Plus, these websites do a great job of hitting the key points about who they are and what they do that those have been used as well.
If you are a member and do not have a site on the Web and would like to have your logo and pictures associated with your listing, and if you would like a few key points about your business listed, please e-mail them to me at cacc@cariboumaine.net. A new philosophy has been adopted and only members will be listed in this section. So, if you are not currently a member of the Chamber, please contact me to become a member.
Another improvement on the site will be the Community Calendar. On the old site, the calendar is buried in a menu in a strange place and has always been difficult to find. The new site will feature the calendar link on the front page.
Speaking of websites, the County Federal Credit Union just launched a new update to their site at http://countyfcu.org/. The new site is very attractive and intuitive. Well done!
Another opportunity presents itself here to remind you of a planning meeting for the Winter Carnival that will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness Center. All clubs and local organizations are asked to attend. It would also be a great time to come as a volunteer and offer your time to the February fun.
The annual Members’ Meeting will take place on Tuesday morning, Feb. 5, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. Coffee and pastry will be available. This will be a great time to dialogue with other members and to hear my “State of the Chamber” address. Mark your calendar and prepare your questions!
Member visits were made to Freme’s Jewelry, Dead River and Staples this past week. Keep an eye on the Chamber’s Facebook page for the pictures and write-ups. The one thing these visits have reminded is that the nicest people live in our area. They really do.
