Financial aid meeting planned for Jan. 10

WASHBURN NEWS

by Beth Boddy

On Thursday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. a very important training session will be offered at the high school by Chris Bell, the financial aid director at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Parents and high school students need to attend and learn how to complete the FAFSA from an expert. Remember, all post-secondary ed schools require the FAFSA even if you are only applying for a student loan. Students and parents must have PIN numbers to complete the FAFSA; it is recommended that they obtain PIN numbers prior to the meeting.

You can get your PIN numbers by visiting www.pin.ed.gov — it only takes a few minutes to complete. Before the training session, you may also want to go to: www.finaid.ucsb.edu/fafsasimplification/index.html to view Seven Easy Steps to the FAFSA.

Mark this on your calendar today! Don’t miss this opportunity.

Note of thanks

Lucia Bragg, a sophomore at Washburn High School who has been raising money for the People to People Student Ambassador trip, would like to thank everyone for the very successful stew night she held on Dec. 7. Also the winner of the homemade doll raffle was Dorsey Carney. To make donations, call Lucia at 455-8053.
