FOOTER, Edward A., Jr., 85, MAINE & FLORIDA, at Florida, December 20, 2012. A memorial service will be held January 12, 2013, in Hobe Sound, FL. His life will be celebrated in Portage Lake, ME, summer of 2013.

MAINE & FLORIDA –  Edward A. Footer, Jr., passed away peacefully December 20, 2012, in Tequesta, Florida. Ed was born September 21, 1927, in Milton, MA, to Edward A. Sr. and Annie Beatrice (MacLellan). Ed was raised in Bath, ME.
    He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Philippines during W.W. II. Ed was honorably discharged in 1945. Ed attended the University of Maine and worked for 38 years as project engineer for NET&T. Ed married Wilma A. Campbell of Presque Isle, ME, in 1954. They were blessed with seven children, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Katie & Bob Johnson of Steep Falls, ME, their children, Jenny & Torey McPherson, Chris, Ali, & Ross Johnson; Carolyn & Billy Doyen III of Castle Hill, ME, their children, Martha & Barry Buck, Melissa & Jeramy Buck; Susan & Ross Doyen of Mapleton, ME, their children, Shawn & Christi Doyen, Liza & Mark Hutton, Elizabeth & Mickey Hall, Kristi & Joe Greaves; Billy & Dayle Footer of Gorham, ME, their children, Ed, Joe & Ellen Footer; John & Janice Footer of Mars Hill, ME, their children, Jack & Nick Footer; Ann & Brent Bridges of Oviedo, FL, their children, Adam & Will Bridges, Marybeth & Ryan Burby; Deborah (Dee Dee) Footer of Jupiter, FL; and extended family, William & Diane Doyen Stokes of Augusta, ME, their children, Alicia & Liam Stokes.
    Ed was a member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club. Ed served on the SAD #1 board of directors for many years, 10 of them as chairman. He was also a lector at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. After Ed retired in 1984. he and Willie wintered in Hobe Sound, FL. Summers were spent in Portage Lake, ME; where they were blessed with lifelong friends, with whom they traveled, cooked, golfed and played bridge.
    Ed is survived by his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert & Barbara Footer of Calais, ME, James & Dorothy Footer of Cape Cod, MA; many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by all of his co-horts with a smile! Ed’s wife, Willie; his parents; his brother, John; and sister, Mary Jane Turcotte predeceased him.
    A memorial service will be held January 12, 2013, at St. Christopher’s Church in Hobe Sound, FL, at 10:30 a.m. His life will be celebrated in Portage Lake, ME, summer of 2013.
